If I said I'd never in my life learned a makeup technique from TikTok, would you believe me? You shouldn't, because that would be the biggest lie ever told. Honestly, I've learned everything I know about getting ready from the app. What I was doing in the years before it entered the world is anyone's guess (and need not be discussed, thanks).
The latest trend to take over the platform? "Model" cheekbone contouring, a simple technique where you use a stick bronzer to create a faux hollowed cheek look. On May 8, Selena Gomez shared a video to Rare Beauty's Instagram account trying out the hack. Unsurprisingly, it worked very well.
In the video, Gomez uses Rare Beauty's Warm Wishes Effortless Bronzer ($26) in the cool-toned shade "Happy Sol" to sculpt a wavy line under (not on top of!) her cheekbone. She also adds a little color near her outer eye corners, around her forehead, and on her jawline.
"I don't know how to contour, you guys. I think I've said that a million times," she explains in a voiceover. "So I just do weird things and go for it."
The "Single Soon" singer then grabs a makeup sponge and goes to town blending. "And then blend," she says with a bit of sass. "Obviously."

In the post's caption, Rare Beauty shared a little more insight into the product, which Byrdie just happened to name one of the best stick bronzer of 2024.
"Warm Wishes Effortless Bronzer’s weightless, smooth-glide texture makes it easy to add soft and diffused warmth to the skin," the caption reads. If you scroll to the comments section, it's full of customers raving about the product. "The only bronzer I will ever use honestly," shared one fan, while another added that they "usually don’t like cream products but THIS!! Chefs kiss."
