Makeup trends often flow with the seasons. For example, this past summer, we saw the emergence of aesthetics like "Strawberry Girl" and "Tomato Girl." Now, with autumn's arrival, a new set of beauty trends are taking center stage. Pumpkin spice makeup, in particular, seems to be one of the buzziest looks of the season thus far (and the latest variation on the latte beauty trend). Ahead, celebrity makeup artist Jamie Greenberg and Hourglass global artistry and training director Vanessa Eckels share tips on how to achieve the warm-toned makeup trend.

The Trend
Now that fall is here, pumpkin spice makeup has gained lots of traction on social media. The hashtag has racked up over seven million views on TikTok, with top creators like Meredith Duxbury, Victoria Lyn, and Alissa Janay creating tutorials related to the trend. The trend is essentially all about doing makeup with the colors of autumn. "Pumpkin spice makeup involves warm tones; it's monochromatic and smoky–just like the cozy fire you want to snuggle up next to while you cradle that warm mug of pumpkin spice in your hands," Greenberg says.
In years past, fall makeup trends have typically revolved around matte looks, but according to Eckels, pumpkin spice makeup takes a slightly different approach. "It's all about exuding a warm, rich glow that shimmers," she says.
How To Get The Look
Since radiant skin is a focal point of this look, Eckels and Greenberg recommend sticking with light-coverage complexion products. "Start with a lightweight skin tint or foundation that provides a naturally glowing, second-skin finish," Eckels says. She recommends Hourglass' Veil Hydrating Skin Tint, as it provides lasting hydration and gives the skin a dewy finish. Danessa Myricks Beauty's Yummy Skin Serum Skin Tint ($36) can also provide a natural, illuminated finish.
From there, you can move on to creating your pumpkin spice look. The monochromatic nature of the trend starts with choosing the same tones on your eyes, lips, and cheeks. "Think brown, rust, orange, or bronze shades," Greenberg says.
Greenberg recommends first applying bronzer to warm up your complexion. "Feel free to be liberal with bronzer for a pumpkin spice look, as bronzer brings it all together," she says. Greenberg recommends using Pur's 4-in-1 Skin-Perfecting Powders Face Palette in Medium-Tan or Dark-Deep, as she says these compacts have the perfect pumpkin spice shades.
"A good rule of thumb with bronzer is to apply it to all the spots where the sun naturally shines [on your face]," Eckels says. Depending on your face shape, this can include your temples, cheek, nose, and chin. Eckels and Greenberg also recommend applying bronzer on your eyelids to achieve the most seamless look.
From there, you'll want to dab an orange-toned blush onto the apples of your cheeks to give your makeup an added fall flair. ONE/SIZE by Patrick Starrr Cheek Clapper 3D Blush Trio Palette in Freaky Peach is a great option—it includes a variety of peachy, orange blush shades. To complete the look, swipe on a complimentary lipstick or gloss.
The Best Pumpkin Spice Makeup Examples
Sculpted Pumpkin Spice
Sarah Hyland's makeup is the epitome of pumpkin spice glam. The placement of her deep orange blush and sharp contour give her face a beautifully sculpted look. The soft orange eyeshadow, warm glossy lip, and fluttery lashes complete the look perfectly.
Smoky Spice
Take creative liberty with your eyeshadow and create an orange and brown smoky eye. Give your eye makeup an even more exaggerated look by swiping on an intense wing. Complete your look with a fitting-for-fall brown lip gloss.
Burnt Orange Eyes
This pumpkin spice makeup glam is the perfect nighttime look. Vanessa Hudgens' burnt orange eye makeup is truly the focal point of the look, so it makes sense she paired it with a nude glossy lip.
Intense Orange Eyes
Florence Pugh's intense orange eye makeup is incredibly stunning. The complimentary light orange lip is the perfect finishing touch.
Radiant Orange
This look is radiant, dewy, and downright glamorous. The wash of shimmery orange eyeshadow across the eyes is a stunning touch. We also love how the orange blush and highlighter across the cheekbones instantly illuminates the model's complexion.
Orange and Brown Glam
If you want to take your pumpkin spice look to the next level, use orange and brown tones on your eyes. Use a combination of Danessa Myricks Beauty's Color Fix Multi-Use Pigment in Exposed and Nude 7 to achieve the look. The result is mesmerizing.
Monochromatic Eyes and Lips
Sydney Sweeney's look is all about the lips and eyes. For the latter, use the Pat McGrath Labs Mothership VI Palette. Hernandez used the shade Taboo on her crease and lower lash line and a mixture of Blood Moon 005 and Jubilee on her lid.
Subtle Spice
If you want to try the pumpkin spice trend in a subtle way, opt for this take. Apply a very light amount of orange blush and eyeshadow. Bring the look together with a few swipes of nude gloss.
Electric Pumpkin Spice
Jennifer Lopez fully leaned into the pumpkin spice vibes here. Her bright orange lips and cheeks are a bold and beautiful pair.
Fuego Flush
Of course, Rihanna's monochromatic orange outfit called for a matching makeup moment. We're willing to bet she used Cheeks Out Freestyle Cream Blush in Fuego Flush to achieve her warm-toned cheeks.
Burnt Orange Spice
Every color looks gorgeous on Justine Skye, but burnt orange looks especially beautiful. Here, she's wearing a sheer wash of the vibrant hue on her eyes and lips. The faux freckles dotted across her face add another unique element to her makeup.
