If you're anything like us, you've already binged the first half of Bridgerton's third season, and are impatiently waiting for the next half to drop. The show has taken the internet by storm, but fans will agree: the opulent, candy-colored aesthetic is just as enchanting as its plot lines. The series takes inspiration from the Regency Era—known for being extravagant, leisurely, and romantic—but dials up the drama with bright colors, lots of sparkle, and some killer beauty looks.
Since the start of the show, Nicola Coughlan, who plays Penelope Featherington, has defined herself as a beauty icon both off and on-screen. So, when her makeup artist revealed her go-to routine for Penelope's looks, we took notes.
Coughlan's on-set makeup artist, Jessie Deol, posted the her essentials for Penelope's look in the Hawkin's Ball scene. The beauty of Bridgerton could best be described as girly glam. The makeup doesn't feel super intense, but it's very glamorous featuring fluttery lashes, intricate eyeshadow looks, and lots of blush. "For the Hawkins ball it was all about inventions so I wanted to be innovative with the makeup," wrote Deol on Instagram . "Any man dancing with her would be drawn to look into her eyes, after all she is looking for a husband. I kept her skin glowy."
On the third slide, Deol revealed the products she used to get the look. To start, Deol prepped the actor's skin using the NuFace, a micro-current device that claims to naturally sculpt the face and smooth fine lines. To create a smooth base, Deol then applied the Dr. Barbara Sturm The Rich Cream Moisturizer to Coughlan's skin.
After skin prep, Deol starts to build a glowy base and goes in with two concealers: Cle de Peau Concealer SPF 27 and the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer.
For brows, Deol uses Westbarn and Co.'s The Brow Pencil in Clay to shape Coughlan's brows. Too Faced's Better Than Sex Mascara is credited for creating her super long and fluttery lashes. To create the smoky eyeshadow look, she used Victoria Beckham Satin Kajal Liner in Gunmetal. and added a pop of highlight into the inner corners from Dior's Backstage Glow Palette.
Deol then added a coral flush using Makeup Forever HD Skin Face Essentials Longwear Full Face Cream Palette and a pop of highlight using Smashbox x BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter in the shade Pearl. She lined the lips with Bobbi Brown's Lip Liner Pencil in ballet pink and Victoria Beckham's Posh Gloss in Bikini.
In season three, it's clear that Penelope's beauty finally gets an upgrade as her character grows to develop her own signature style. Her beauty feels equal parts romantic and serene, emulating the confidence and glamour of an Old Hollywood star.
