Simone Biles is an icon, period. The U.S. Olympian is the most decorated gymnast in history with 36 medals total. What's more, Biles has solidified herself as a beauty girl—at competitions, she'll hit a flawless floor routine with a full face of glam and that is a true talent. Her latest competition makeup didn't budge throughout her entire routine, and with summer just around the corner, the internet was dying to know how her makeup stayed totally sweat-proof. So, we put our investigative journalism hats on and found the answer: Setting spray. Three of them, actually.
Over the weekend, Biles competed at the 2024 Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships in Fort Worth, Texas. On Jun 2, Biles won her record-breaking ninth all-around national title, and by the end of the competition was the highest all-around scorer across the four events. This is all in preparation for the Paris Olympics, which are coming up in July. While social media was obsessed with Biles' routine, the internet was also in awe of how her flawless makeup stayed in place for the entire competition. Luckily, Biles' makeup artist, Alayza Casey, posted the secret to the athlete's locked-in makeup on Instagram.
Casey and Biles both posted photos of the glam to their respective Instagrams, showcasing the gymnast's bronzy eyeshadow, perfect black winged liner, and matte, bronzed complexion. Casey revealed in the comments that the secret to keeping Biles's glam flawless throughout her routine was a combination of three setting sprays. She used Skindinavia The Makeup Finishing Spray, Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray, and the Kryolan Fixing Spray.
To create Biles's bronzed ombré eyeshadow look, Casey used Patrick Ta's Major Dimension Eyeshadow Palette. For complexion, she opted for Hailey Bieber's favorite concealer, the Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Concealer. Casey's lip product of choice was Huda Beauty's Lip Contour 2.0 Automatic Matte Lip Pencil.
With her flawless makeup and floor skills, Biles is destined to be untouchable at the Olympics. And, while you won't catch us on the vault this summer, we'll be keeping Biles' trick in mind for sweaty days ahead.
