Sydney Sweeney Debuted a Wavy Lob at Paris Fashion Week

What do they say about spring cleaning? Out with the old, in with the new? Whatever it is, when the weather starts getting warmer, we start shifting our look in favor of something newer and fresher. For some, like Miley Cyrus, this means entering her big hair era. For Dua Lipa, a mermaid chrome mani. For Sydney Sweeney? A brand-new short haircut that we expect to see everywhere this season.

On March 5, the HBO muse was in Paris to attend Miu Miu's Fall/Winter 24 fashion show. Alongside Hailee Steinfeld, Maddie Ziegler, and Lorde, Sweeney sat in the front row to watch the latest designs from the beloved brand walk down the runway. While VIP guests arrived wearing full Miu Miu ensembles, Sweeney decided the fashion show was the perfect place to show off her brand-new lob.

In a length similar to the most trendy lob of 2023—the "stretched" lob—Sweeney's new hair grazed her collarbones and sat right on her shoulders. Sweeney styled the new look in a slightly edgy yet effortless way for the show. She parted her hair to the side, and added an almost crunchy, wet texture, like she just got out of a pool in the most fashionable way.

The popularity of the stretched lob has shown no signs of slowing down—we're just three months into the new year and the cut has already been seen on Jennifer Aniston, Emily Ratajkowski, and more. But, this makes sense. Celebrity hairstylist and Creative Director of Evo Hair, Tom Smith, previously told us the cut's appeal comes from the fact that "layers are nowhere to be seen," and it's "an ideal length for the cozy 'tucked-into-a-large-overcoat' look which pairs nicely with this season's trending puffer jackets and oversized scarves." 

However, now that it's springtime and the puffers and scarves are being put into storage, it also "elongates the neck and casts shadows under the cheekbone, which can be great for those whose faces benefit from angles and contour." The perfect pair for outfits like Sweeney's that aren't heavily bundled up and covered.

Sweeney paired her new look with all Miu Miu, of course. The ensemble started with a cropped silk blouse and full-on sparkly hot pants. Over top of the itty-bitty pieces, she layered an oversized blazer. Then, she accessorized with tights, oval sunglasses, and a small Miu Miu purse.
