Although Anyone But You wasn’t up for any awards at the 2024 Oscars, Sydney Sweeney would do anything but miss a good Oscars afterparty. After Billie Eilish became the youngest two-time Oscar winner, Emma Stone took home Best Actress, and everyone from Zendaya to Ariana Grande graced the stage as a presenter, all the biggest stars headed where? The Vanity Fair Oscars After Party, of course.
As is normally the case with the prestigious after party, all of Hollywood's best and brightest were in attendance, even if they weren't at the awards ceremony. This year, attendees included Kendall Jenner, Cardi B, and Sydney Sweeney, who walked the red carpet in a brand-new bob.
Less than a week ago, Sweeney was in Paris to attend Miu Miu’s Paris Fashion Week show. While there, the actor debuted a wavy, wet-styled lob hairstyle that traveled all the way to her collarbone. However, after the Oscars, it seems she cut that lob into a proper, bonafide bob.
Done by two frequent hair collaborators of Sweeney, Glen Oropeza, and Jacob Schwartz, the cut and color of the new do was custom made for her big appearance. The reason for such a major change? Sweeney needed the best hair to pair with her archival Marc Bouwer gown, which originally walked the red carpet for the first time two decades ago on Angelina Jolie at the 2004 Academy Awards.
The new cut, done by Oropeza, fell right on top of her shoulders, perfectly grazing them while not extending past them. He used Kristen Ess tools to create a style full of bounce, volume, and shine. Oropeza parted Sweeney’s hair in a side part and let the thicker of the two sections graze her left eyebrow and cheek. He also added inward curls to the ends of her hair, shaping Sweeney’s face and adding even more drama—exuding all the Old Hollywood vibes, especially in combination with the dress.
Then, the new bob was elevated all the more with some fresh color. Done by Schwartz, an expert celebrity hair colorist, he used Schwarzkopf color to achieve the new blonde look.
Compared to the lob she wore a few days ago, this bob was a tad darker and all the more sultry. Where her old hair was bright blonde, this was a more subdued hue with pops of bright highlights throughout—with what looks like the brightest strands framed around her face and a natural-looking slight ombré that was evenly distributed from root to end.
