Finding a moisturizer that you love and that also works for your specific skin type can feel like finding a needle in a haystack. It’s my job to try a bunch of different products, so I’m never sticking to one for too long. That being said, I’m able to get a good feel for a product rather quickly. So when this cult-favorite Farmacy Beauty Honey Halo Ceramide Face Moisturizer hit my desk, I was excited to see what the hype was about. Ahead, see how it worked for my skin.

About My Skin: Prone to hormonal acne
As someone who has had acne my whole life, I’m picky when it comes to my moisturizers. For the most part, I look for something that will hydrate my skin without feeling heavy and greasy or breaking me out. My skin is pretty well behaved these days, but I still get hormonal acne breakouts along my jawline from time to time. For about a month I alternated using this cream along with my SPF in the morning and at night as the final step in my routine.
The Feel & Scent: Rich and buttery
When I first picked up this product I was surprised by how rich and thick it was. However, it’s not greasy or oily at all. It comes in a beautiful frosted glass jar with a wood lid. “It has a rich, luxurious texture that melts into the skin like butter. It even looks like butter,” explains Kseniya Popova, the brand’s Director of Research and Development. It’s true: it’s light yellow and the texture is thick but smooth.
I loved how dewy (and not tacky) it felt once the product soaked into my skin. It also layered well under my makeup. “When applied to the skin, it spreads in a soft velvety layer and absorbs seamlessly with no tack and leaves skin looking dewy, healthy, and moisturized,” says Popova.
This particular moisturizer has a pleasant honey scent that’s fresh but not overpowering.

Ingredients: Farm-sourced humectants
With its scent, it's no wonder honey is up first on the list. “Buckwheat honey, fig extract, and the sugar blend are the water-loving humectants that help to maintain proper water levels in the skin,” explains Popova. Then you have even more hydration, thanks to the ceramides and shea butter. “[Both] are lipid-loving emollients that provide barrier support and seal in moisture,” says Popova.
The Results: Supple, plump skin
Since I don’t have chronically dry skin, I didn’t find myself needing to apply much of this product. A dime-size amount was more than enough to cover my face and neck.
I didn’t see a massive transformation in my skin, but it got the job done and left my skin supple and soft.
This product is ideal for drier skin types. If you have dry patches or flakiness, I could see this moisturizer working well for you. For oilier skin types it might not be the best option. For me, subbing it into my routine a few times a week left my skin happy and breakout free. I didn’t see a massive transformation in my skin, but it got the job done and left my skin supple and soft.
The Value: Affordable luxury
This 1.7 fl. oz. tub costs just under $50. And because the cream is so thick and hydrating, a little goes a long way. The ingredient list is clean and jam-packed with hydrating humectants, so it feels luxurious. When compared to similar moisturizers on the market, $45 is an average price.
Similar Products: You've got options
Mario Badescu Honey Moisturizer ($25): The honey-infused cream is thinner than the Honey Halo but sinks into the skin to restore hydration just the same—and you can't beat the price. The only downside is the added perfume.
Wishful Honey Whip Peptide and Collagen Moisturizer ($43): This product comes courtesy of mega beauty influencer Huda Kattan’s skincare line. The main ingredients in this skin-smoothing, firming, and lifting moisturizer are manuka honey, peptides, and collagen.
If your skin is dry or flaky, or if you prefer your moisturizers rich and thick, the Farmacy Beauty Honey Halo Moisturizer might be what you’ve been looking for. The gentle formula melts into skin like butter and spreads into a soft layer that leaves the skin looking healthy and moisturized.
