It’s Zendaya’s world, and we’re all just living in it. At this point, we could write an entire dissertation about the superstar’s Dune: Part Two press run. Since the new year, Z has been jet-setting across the globe promoting her upcoming film and has quite literally made fashion history every step of the way. By channeling the dystopian aesthetics of Dune, she has served everything from futuristic moto-baddie to tattered desert princess and, most notably, genuine robot royalty in an ultra-rare Mugler robot catsuit. However, amongst all the high fashion serves, her hair has never been as much the focus of the look as it is now.
While in Seoul for a multi-day press event, Zendaya and the rest of the Dune crew posed for pictures on the red carpet of the film’s South Korean premiere. And, as you could probably guess, her avant-garde, dystopian dressing was on full display again—down to her abstract, zig-zag parted hairstyle.
A full cyber-inspired outfit, Z’s stylist Law Roach pulled another incredible archival look, this time from Givenchy’s Fall/Winter 1999 collection—a dark two-piece suit that was covered from top to bottom in cyber designs much resembling the hardware of a computer. Roach layered the turtleneck jacket and pencil skirt over sheer black tights. Then, he finished off the look with black Louboutins and a silver ear cuff.
Of course, Zendaya's hairstylist Tai Simon gave the star a futuristic hair look to match. Giving Matrix meets Office Siren, Z's hair was pulled back into a sleek, slicked-back bun. Instead of just a classic middle part or a full combed-back moment, this look had a deep side part that zig-zagged its way across the middle of her hair—very Y2K. The sharp part started right above the middle of her eyebrow, then shot back to near the crown of her head, stopped, and switched directions, jetting off to the other side. To make the look even more futuristic, Simon left two ultra-long face-framing strands around Zendaya's ears. Traveling down to her chest, her dark black hair was styled pin-straight in the most glamorous of sideburn styles.
Naturally, the makeup, by Ernesto Casillas, only tied the look together. She had a glowy, radiant base, and her eyes brought the red hues from her outfit to the glam. Under her lower lashline and on both of her waterlines, Casillas added a thin but bold stroke of maroon eyeliner. The dark red formed a sharp inner corner and continued out into a short cat eye. She also had a similar, slightly lighter, red dusted across the bulk of her lids. Long, fluttering lashes and glossy lips finished off the look.
