Zendaya's Flippy Cherry Cola Bob Might Be Her Trendiest Hair Yet

So refreshing.

Hot bob summer is still going strong. Emma Stone just got a "cool girl bob" in bleach blonde, Zoe Saldana became the latest star to get in on the French bob trend, Kourtney Kardashian died her bob icy blonde, and Ice Spice switched out her signature copper curls for a Barbiecore pink bob for (what else?) the music video for "Barbie World," to name a few.

And now Zendaya—no stranger to a short haircut—has taken the trend up a notch. On August 10, Z quenched all the thirst we didn't know we had when images from her Smartwater campaign dropped. While the high-fashion garments were the star of the show, what caught our eye was her flipped-out, deep red bob.

Z has had a bob before, debuting a bouncy, short take on the supermodel haircut in December 2022. But this slicked-back iteration is a change of pace, not only in how it's styled but also in color. The "Euphoria" star has joined the list of celebs who have gotten in on the cherry cola hair color trend. The luxurious shade, beloved by Dove Cameron, Megan Thee Stallion, and countless TikTokers, is among the many '90s trends to make a big comeback in 2023.

The cut fits in perfectly with the Malt Shop bobs we've seen on the likes of Florence Pugh and Keke Palmer, and the shiny, wet-like appearance is pretty perfect for Smartwater.

Super stylist Law Roach paired the flippy bob with a wet-appearing gown from Greek designer Di Petsa, made of ultra-sheer white fabric that formed ruffles and waves along Z's body that appeared as though she swam in silk and then got out of the water. (Looking impossibly glamorous while doing so.) Zendaya also tucked her bob into the hood of a tight-fitting, mermaid-style lilac gown from American designer Conner Ives. Because mermaids drink Smartwater, of course.

Most piercing, though, was the look by London-based American designer Chet Lo: A blue two-piece knitwear set with crunchy spikes sticking out of the sweater, an elegant update on the Y2K popcorn top.

All of the looks were paired with the same silver jewelry and soft glam: Bronze eyeshadow with a sparkly highlight on the inner corners, nude-pink lips, a satin-matte base, and of course, a gorgeous milky-white mani.
