Jennifer Lopez Just Gave the Hair Bow Trend Her Stamp of Approval

She's in her coquette era.

It's been a busy January for Jennifer Lopez. The multihyphenate kicked off the new year at the Golden Globes, wearing her hair with bombshell waves as she waltzed the red carpet. Shortly after, she flew out to Paris Fashion Week to attend Schiaparelli’s latest Couture Show in a wet-styled flippy bob. As if that wasn’t enough, she stuck around in Paris for a few more shows, and tried out one of winter's biggest hair trends: hair bows.

On January 24, Lopez attended Elie Saab’s Spring/Summer 2024 Couture Show in the French metropolis, sitting front row in a full ensemble of the designer’s latest collection. Of course, she stole the show while watching all the high-fashion designs move across the runway.

Though the entire look was ethereal, we were hyper focused on her hair. A little bit longer than the bob she wore at her last fashion show, this hairstyle reached all the way to her chest—a stretched lob, if you would. She parted it down the side and let it lay on her shoulder, having some loose strands graze her eye and the right side of her face.

What was holding the side swoop in place was none other than the aforementioned bow. A thick forest green ribbon, she tied it in a small bow on the top of her side part, letting the long parts of the bow flow with the rest of her hair. Upon a closer look, the bow was made of a velvet strip down the middle and framed with a slightly brighter satin—perfectly matching her green dress.

In 2023, we witnessed the return of the bow, only “re-interpreted for the female gaze, inclusive to all, and a little tongue-in-cheek, which immediately makes it feel cool, fresh, and modern—and less Toddlers and Tiaras,” Cat Quinn, executive director of global trend at MAC Cosmetics, previously told us.

If J. Lo's look is any indication, the hyper-feminine trend isn't going anywhere in 2024. Her dress was absent of bows, but utilized purple and green flowers as a long, trailing cape layered over a flowy muted green dress that matched the hues on the Elie Saab cape. She finished off the look with a thick gold belt around her waist and some coordinating earrings.
