What do you get when you pair the Pantone color of the year with the manicure finish of the decade? Gabrielle Union-Wade's peach chrome manicure.
On April 29, the 51-year-old showed up at the premiere of the new rom-com The Idea of You in New York. Produced by Union—she previously named the book it was based on as one of her all-time favorites— the film's red carpet was full of excellent beauty looks (hello, Anne Hathaway's ponytail), but when it came time for the mani-cam, one look won out.
Crafted by nail artist Thuy Nguyen, the so-simple and so-pretty manicure featured a medium-long almond shape. Each nail was painted a warm peach shade that almost looked rose in certain light, or at least when paired with the purple carpet and step-and-repeat background chosen for the night.
In the end, a light layer of chrome powder was likely applied—the perfect amount to feature the effect while still allowing the base shade to shine through. Albeit a little pinker, Olive & June's Baby Starfish Press-Ons ($10) could give you a similar look without a trip to the salon. OPI's Data Peach polish ($12) would also do the trick.
Wearing a black Sportmax two-piece gown and gold Tiffany & Co jewelry (the perfect shade to compliment that manicure), Union completed the look with an absolute waterfall of a hairstyle by Larry Sims. Pulled back in a tight half-ponytail with the rest of the hair cascading down her back, her hair reached well past her waist, offering ample ability for hair flips and swings.
"My mane muse," wrote Sims in a post highlighting the look, which was immediately flooded with compliments. "Yes hair," wrote a fan alongside a fire emoji.
So, are you ready for your to-do list? Head to the bookstore to grab The Idea of You. After zooming through it, book it to the movie theater to watch The Idea of You, then stop by your favorite salon to get Union's The Idea of You manicure. Actually, now that I think about it, stop by the salon first—there's nothing like turning the pages with a fresh mani.
