I know the phrase is "fresh as a daisy," but it might as well be "fresh as a Fanning." Ever since she was tiny, Elle Fanning (along with big sis Dakota) has exuded major running-through-a-wildflower-field energy. Karl Lagerfeld even chose a daisy crown to showcase the starlet's personality while photographing her as a 13-year-old, so I know I'm not far off with this judgement.
On March 25, Elle dove even deeper into her fresh nature when she showed off a brand new long bob haircut courtesy of celebrity stylist Jenda Alcorn. The 25-year-old premiered the look via Instagram, offering scissor and daisy emojis (see!!!) as a caption.
Slightly grazing her chin but not yet in micro-bob territory, the haircut is one-length (a great choice to make fine hair look a little thicker) and cute as can be. Naturally, fellow stars were immediately obsessed with the look; Rachel Sennott commented "loveee" while a simple "yes" was all Jenna Ortega needed to say to get her point across.
Before the scissors came out, Fanning's blonde locks were more than double their current length, cascading well past her shoulders in their all silky glory. This is probably the shortest cut we've seen on Fanning—and it's somehow even more shocking than when she dyed her hair brunette for a stint in 2014. Following the chop, the Somewhere actress hit the mall to find some clothes to match her lob-girl personality. "New hair = shopping spree," she wrote via her Instagram story, garnering a repost from her stylist.
"We did a thing," wrote Alcorn in her own post, promising more info on the look later. "I’m still recovering!!" she added.
In a conversation with Byrdie last winter, Fanning revealed that she's always wanted to try out bangs; she gave no inclination that a bob was on the horizon. "I wish I could have bangs; I think I would look good in bangs, but my hair wouldn't do it, you know? You need your hair to be thick, and you need to cut a lot, so that would be my dream," she shared.
If we know anything, it's that dreams do come true—especially dreams dreamt by an ethereal darling such as Ms. Elle Fanning. When Alcorn is recovered, I hope the scissors make a return; perhaps a French bob is in the cards?
