Charli XCX is in her Brat era. The star's sixth studio album has taken over, and you can't miss it. The neon "Brat green" shade of her album cover is literally everywhere, from murals in Brooklyn to memes across the internet. And, while the jarring shade isn't the easiest sell, we've slowly been convinced that it's the shade of the summer (sorry, butter yellow). The easiest way to try on the hue? With your next manicure, of course.
Read on to learn everything about the trending shade, and how to get the look yourself.
The Trend
Neon nails for summer have never really gone away, but with more popular (and dare I say easygoing) shades available, bright hues took a backseat. Until now that is. Charli's album roll-out helped to revive the shade's popularity, but there have been hints of a neon comeback for a while now. Hailey Bieber was an early adopter of Brat green, wearing a neon green mani to Coachella in both 2024 and 2023. (Both sets glowed in the dark, a detail we know Charli would love).
What's more, editorial nail artist Jin Soon Choi previously told Byrdie that vibrant popsicle shades would be one of the most popular nail trends this summer. Who doesn't love a lime green popsicle on a hot summer's day?
Fans of the album have been posting nail tutorials inspired by the album to TikTok, with different variations and designs using the neon green shade. Even Sally Hansen got in on the fun, posting a recreation of the album cover using the brand's Hard Drive Me Crazy shade as the background.
Although we are not the neon green crisis PR committee, in a world of pearly shimmer nails and barely-there manis, we'll admit Brat green stands out like no other. And that's a good thing! Embracing Brat Girl Summer is all about having fun and being the center of attention, and the neon shade is perfect for hot nights ahead. Plus, if you're lucky enough to see Charli on tour, it's a fun way to show support and get in the mood.
How To Get The Look
To channel your inner brat all you'll need is some neon green nail polish, and there's plenty of that to go around. Olive & June's Lime Fizz is a great neon option for under $10. O.P.I's Summer Monday-Fridays is a lighter green, but still packs a punch. If you're a little scared of the shade, try a sheer jelly formula like Cirque Color's Star Fruit Jelly to ease in.
For those who don't love doing their own nails or aren't taking a trip to the salon anytime soon, O.P.I's xPress/On Nails in The Beat Goes Neon is a near-perfect match to the album cover and Glamnetic's Rio De Janeiro is a near exact dupe for one of Bieber's green Coachella mani's.
It's really that simple. Just add a pair of shield sunglasses and a glass of orange wine and you're ready to channel your inner 365 party girl.
