Acne scars can linger long after your complexion has cleared up. Being constantly reminded of past breakouts is a major annoyance--and one that brand Murad seeks to combat. Their InvisiScar Resurfacing Treatment is meant for treating both the marks and textural changes left by acne. In hopes it would minimize my own acne scarring, I used the InvisiScar Resurfacing Treatment for a month; read on to learn what I thought about how well it worked to reduce my acne scars.

InvisiScar aims to reduce the look of acne scars and dark spots, while also working to actually diminish scar texture and the appearance of hyperpigmentation over time. According to the brand, it's meant to be used daily, with results appearing after eight weeks of continued use. They recommend using the product both in the morning and at night, after washing your face and before applying your SPF sunscreen.

How it Works

Murad InvisiScar contains ingredients that work in both the short term and long to help reduce the appearance of acne scars. Vitamin C brightens skin, while salicylic acid exfoliates. It also contains several acids that work to hydrate the skin and support the process of skin barrier repair.

Is it Safe for Everyone?

Murad Invisiscar is best used for those with dry skin. If you deal with oily skin, the moisturizers in this product may be overly hydrating. This product also contains fragrance, and so should be avoided by anyone with a strong sensitivity to fragrances.

My Skin

Even though my acne cleared up almost a decade ago, I still have acne scars and enlarged pores along my cheeks. I've noticed they've become more pronounced in the past few years as the collagen in my skin has begun to decline (hello 30!).

How I Used InvisiScar

I used InvisiScar every morning under my makeup. It's super lightweight, leaves a silky smooth finish, and doubles beautifully as a primer. Though it contains salicylic acid to exfoliate the skin and reduce scarring, I've never found it to irritate my sensitive skin.

Murad's InvisiScar Resurfacing Treatment has worked to smooth my skin before makeup application (or even on makeup-free days when worn under sunscreen) and has contributed to a more uniform appearance.

The Results

My scars are still there, but I do feel that my pores have tightened and my skin has become smoother. I can say that my skin over the month of using the InvisiScar treatment has been the best it's looked in years and this was one part of the carefully curated cocktail of things I've been using. InvisiScar has earned its spot in my daily skincare routine and I'm happy to be back on board with the brand that first stepped in to solve my acne woes many years ago.
