We all know Emma Stone as one of the best actors of our generation. However, more quietly, she's also constantly serving up plenty of hair inspiration. Whether she's wearing her signature ginger hue or switching it up to a platinum “cool girl” blonde, the styling is always on point. Just see her undone bun or her most recent retro ‘do for proof.
On January 4, the actor attended the 35th Annual Palm Springs International Film Awards in Palm Springs, California, where she was honored with the Desert Palm Achievement Award for her work in her latest film, “Poor Things.” Of course, to celebrate the honor, she showed up in style—though her hair is what caught our attention most.
To walk the red carpet and accept her award, Stone wore her hair in a pristine retro flippy bob. Also called a "malt shop" bob, it saw her hair styled almost pin-straight from root to end. However, the ends of her hair flipped upwards with some bounce. Her red hair was parted in a side part and featured tons of shine as it went from root to flippy ends.
Malt shop and flippy bobs have had quite the resurgence alongside all things ‘60s, and Priscilla-core. Zendaya, Lady Gaga, Ice Spice, and so many more have all worn the style at some point in the last few months. The style's popularity makes total sense, seeing as in addition to all things retro trending again we're also in the thick of the “Bob Renaissance.” Everyone, and we mean everyone, is going shorter, and finding fun ways to style their short ‘do—for which the flippy bob has risen to the occasion.
The rest of Stone’s look was just as good as her hair. Stone’s skin was glowy and hydrated with the slightest touch of rosy blush. Her lips matched the hue of her cheeks with an ultra-glossy finish. Finally, her eyes had dark, fluttering lashes on top of a touch of inky liner.
Her outfit was pure mid-century Palm Spring opulence. The base of the outfit was a semi-sheer white blouse that she accessorized with an oversized neck bow. She paired the shirt with a pair of black pants, but the accessories are what made the look. On top of the base, she layered an ornate, sparkly, art deco robe made of satin floral fabric and lined with rhinestones. Then she embellished the look even more with some gold pins, chunky earrings, and her trophy, of course.
